Need an authorized instructor to train your team? OSHA has launched a new online database of trainers who provide 10-hour and 30-hour OSHA outreach training courses. The site (available here) is searchable by location and provides contact information to email or call each trainer.
While OSHA says it does not endorse the trainers listed, it hopes the tool will enable companies to find OSHA-authorized trainers. Trainers who wish to be added to the database should contact their Authorizing Training Organization (OTI Education Center).
On its web site, OSHA also has available lists of:
- Online training options by OSHA-authorized providers
- Spanish-speaking authorized trainers
- Trainers you should avoid because their authorization was suspended or revoked
According to OSHA, it’s Outreach Training Program trained more than 3.94 million workers between 2012 and 2016 and now trains almost one million per year. The program, which began in 1971, aims to promote a culture of safety and participatory peer training in key safety topics, including hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention, as well as worker and employer rights.
A national network of OSHA Training Institute (OTI) Education Centers authorizes individual trainers after they meet certain industry safety experience requirements, complete a training course in applicable OSHA standards, and go through a trainer course.
